Strate School of Design! Who are we?
The school was founded in 1993 by Jean-René Talopp, who initiated the project because of his convictions about education and the strategic role of design in business, as well as his taste for risk and adventure. Coming from the same school, Maurille Larivière and Jean-Pierre Sciamma accompanied him, sharing the same vision of an innovative educational project. “We wanted to remake the world, approaching it with maturity. To call everything into question, while respecting what has gone before. To be in tune with the times, while preserving what has already been achieved.

Our ambitions are both great and simple: to contribute to the training of professionals who are passionate about people, attentive to the needs, desires and dreams of their contemporaries and their descendants.
At Strate, nearly two hundred professionals are mobilized to transmit every day the values, knowledge, methods and practices of designers. Partner of many schools and companies, the school multiplies collaborative projects

Over the years, Strate School of Design has built strong links with major schools and universities in France and abroad and is recognized for the quality of its teaching. Some courses are ranked among the best French and international programs.
A state-recognized diploma
The designer diploma delivered at Strate Paris and Strate Lyon is approved by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and lnnovation and certified by France Compétences as RNCP (Répertoire National des Certifications Professionnelles) Level 7.

Projection and influence
Because its vision of design is both singular and universal (Making the world simpler, fairer and more beautiful), Strate's mission is to bring design to wherever it is needed, in France and abroad, to train professionals to serve these markets.
That's why Strate is a multi-campus school, based in Sèvres since 1993, and setting up in Lyon in 2019, in the heart of Confluence, one of the city's most dynamic areas. Here, it rubs shoulders with startups and incubators.
Strate is also present in Bangalore, India's Silicon Valley, since 2017.

Strate Campuses
Strate School of Design has two campuses: one in Paris and one in Lyon, both offering a human-sized environment and modern facilities designed to foster creativity and innovation.
Paris Campus
Located in Sèvres (Hauts-de-Seine), just outside Paris, the campus is set in a green environment. The four-storey building houses everything a design school needs: classrooms, workshops, computer labs, and spaces for community life. It features a 200-seat amphitheatre, 17 bright classrooms, 4 Mac and PC computer labs, and 5 workshops. A large workshop park allows students to work on models, prototypes, and test materials, while the Digital Workshop offers advanced digital production services, including 3D printers, laser cutters, and milling machines. The cafeteria offers balanced meals, and the campus overlooks the Île Seguin and Brimborion park with free sports facilities.
Lyon Campus
The Lyon campus is located in the vibrant Confluence district, one of Europe's largest urban projects. The campus, housed in a modern building on the site of former market halls, spans four levels with large project studios, machine workshops, and a photo studio. The district’s cutting-edge tech environment provides an ideal space for students to create and innovate.
Courses Taught by Professionals
All artistic expression techniques, including sculpture, nudes, sketching, watercolour, perspective, rough sketching, and colour, are taught by professionals who have mastered their craft. These are working designers who will guide and train students in methodology and the project approach. Additionally, marketing, technical culture, engineering, and professional support are provided by industry experts. English, as well as humanities and social sciences, are taught by professors with relevant degrees.
